Hello! I am CK notes, an IT systems engineer documenting real-world datacenter experience, infrastructure engineering, and everyday life.
This first post introduces why I started this blog, the meaning behind ‘CK notes’, and the topics I plan to cover.
💡 Why the name ‘CK notes’?
When looking at the blog address or title, you might have initially thought of the fashion brand (Calvin Klein). 😄
However, CK notes carries a sincere engineering purpose:
- CK: The initials of my name.
- notes : Derived fromEngineering Field Notes —the verified technical practices and troubleshooting solutions documented while working directly on enterprise systems. Since starting my IT journey on September 6, 2010, I have spent over16 years building servers, enterprise storage, and virtualization clusters across numerous datacenters. This blog is an accessible, reliable technical notebook preserving that hard-earned knowledge.
🚀 Why I Started This Blog
I was never someone who wrote frequently for leisure. However, as an infrastructure engineer, I encounter complex issues and troubleshooting scenarios almost daily. Relying solely on memory felt wasteful, and having a personal reference when similar challenges arise is essential.
Previously, I documented these insights in slide decks and internal company wikis. By publishing them online, I hope they become a lifelong engineering archive for myself anda practical guide for fellow engineers working late to solve similar production incidents.
📂 Topics I Cover
Practical IT & Infrastructure Engineering (Tech)
- Enterprise servers (HPE ProLiant, etc.), SAN switches (Cisco MDS, Brocade), and enterprise storage architectures.
- HCI and virtualization platforms (HPE SimpliVity, HPE VME, VMware vSphere, KVM) deployment and deep dives.
- Air-gapped engineering workflows and local LLM (Ollama) operations.
- Hands-on incident investigations and real-world troubleshooting logs.
Life & Everyday Experiences (Life)
- DIY automotive maintenance (engine oil, filter changes, and vehicle upkeep).
- Travel logs and casual thoughts outside the datacenter.
🎯 Looking Forward
Rather than a dry, rigid technical manual, I aim to create an approachable space that blends 16 years of practical field engineering with personal experiences.
I hope CK notes grows step by step into a dependable technical library you can trust whenever challenges arise.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with you!
